Using This Website

This website brings together a range of resources for legal professionals, families, and communities navigating Indigenous child protection in Canada.

Users can search across case law, educational materials, legislative summaries, podcasts, and other relevant documents. Resources can be filtered by type and region, making it easier to find information relevant to a particular legal or community context.

Within each resource category, users can apply additional filters to refine their searches. For example, a user searching the case law collection can filter by “cultural continuity” and by region to find decisions in which courts have considered cultural continuity in the context of Indigenous child protection. The case law database is also available on Zotero, which is a free easy to navigate tool that houses our case law database. If you’d like to view the case law database on Zotero, you will need to create an account at Zotero. After creating your account you can email our team and request permission to have the case law database shared with your account.

Educational resources can help users build their understanding of child protection proceedings and processes in their region. Our podcasts offer an accessible, conversational way to learn about key issues, developments, and experiences in Indigenous child protection.
